The transport operator MTR needed to improve the weather proofing of the originally fixed Solarfin system which was installed ten years ago. 

FAS Engineering Limited proposed a new operable system to allow natural ventilation and daylight into the concourse and could close up under poor weather condition. 

The system was designed to resist the extreme wind speeds in the typhoon season and would open automatically in an emergency for smoke release.

This pneumatic operable system no just provides extraordinary force that can resist the typhoon wind speed in local weather condition, it also enable a fail safe mode where under any sort of emergency break down, the system will still open to enable smoke release.
